The Closers in action❗️
Getting the job done with principal Lucia Reyes of St. Francis Boys’ College (formerly Belmont Boys’ Secondary RC School). #paintingsinthegarden3 has delivered on its promises. We’re so proud to be able to close this chapter by jump starting this project to help bring the school closer to their technological goals. And we’re only just getting started! Look out for upcoming features that will detail the journey to this point, and plans for the future, as we get ready to launch our T-Shirt line to further the drive! Details coming very very soon.
Many thanks to Mr. Kent Bernard and Mr. Edwin Roberts for their invaluable donations without which this wouldn’t be happening.
I must say Thank You!
Greetings everybody and praises to The Almighty❣️🙏🏼 PITG3 thanks you all. It’s been an intense journey to this point. Something tells me it’s about to become more so… and I’m HERE for it‼️
This year demonstrated clearly to me that focus, very hard work and looooaaads of humility will go a long way in accomplishing goals in life. I must thank all of the amazing people who jumped in without question and stayed the course and continue to support in various ways.
I thank you for putting up with me and understanding that as an artist, sharing the journey is a choice that carries huge weight and can be as painful as it is beautiful, at times. There’s so much more to share! The stories are endless and have no bounds. They really should be told. What I experienced this entire year solidifies the need for me to tell as many stories as I can and use those stories to continue to impact real lives in real-time.
My team is the most wonderful team of people ever! They’ve been with me from jump! They worked with me in and out of moods (you know us creatives how we could be); last minute postings and everything running late… LOVE YOU LOADS!
Mr David Michael Rudder I’ve always loved you! We all have. I don’t know a person who knows you and doesn’t love you! Because we all feel like you are some part of us (from when or wherever in life it was that you and your music inspired us in some way or another!) ... I HAD to reach out! And to my astonishment, you responded. You gave of yourself and your works willingly. You put me in touch with one Mr Ottie Mieres and I believe we immediately forged what feels like a friendship. Talk bout guidance allllll de way!!! BIG love to Ottie IF I may say… You Sir, worked with me while I constructed your image ... to help me really nail the ‘person’ in the painting. You gave Nickolai Salcedo all the blessings to cover your song, "Song For A Lonely Soul" (and we know how amazingly that went)! A whole next generation is gonna be taking in this sweet music birthed by you Mr Rudder—thank you Gyazette for actually perfecting perfection! I can’t believe you did that!!! My Zoe is singing it like a true lil Trini herself!!! 😁 I hope everyone goes out and buys a copy NOW❣️ Mr Rudder, just, THANK - YOU - SIR!!! 🙏🏼🙏🏼🙏🏼
I’ve GOT to thank those who purchased pieces. THANK YOU from the bottom of my heart. When we create it’s often difficult to put a price on the work, for various reasons. However, I believe in being very careful to not undersell while still being mindful of the current economic climate(s). When people purchase they truly help the artist AND in this case the cause. We (artists) work ALL THE TIME. Our work comes from the deepest pits of our being. It’s like allowing my entire insides to be on display for all to see and criticize. It’s NOT easy! So when it is rewarded with respect (whether ‘liked’ or not) and understood to have value and worth, it feeds the soul of the artist in more ways than you know or could even fathom. A resounding THANK YOU to the buyers of my works‼️🙏🏼
Mr. Jones and I thank you! Alicia Aberdeen Art thanks you! Paintings In The Garden III thanks you all!!!

Who remembers pitching marbles? If you do, what's the violation in this shot called??....

Pitching marbles; a seemingly extinct activity that was the “ROBLOX” of its time! An outdoor pastime that passed much time. A social way of interacting. The playing field, any space that can be cleared. The players, anyone
I'm In Love With Stilt Boy!
I've always been. I think I always will be. Ever since I was a little thing with my own nappy crown, I've watched him in all his glory, that simple boy in the air. I've always wanted to join him and all the rest but I had to observe the Sabbath instead...
That one same time every year I look out for him. I wake at wee hours to prepare for the glimpse. I listen to the cac
J'ouvert Zen BLUE
This was the best J'ouvert I've ever experienced (and I've had many). J'ouvert, is the highlight of my Carnival. We're up from the dark of the wee morning hours, till the sun beats down on our oil-covered bodies in the mid-morning revel.. The year was 1997 and the song that captured everyone's soul and left the city covered in Blue paint would forever leave an imprint on my heart!
The Marriage
Steel Pan and Sitar is one of the most beautiful and transcending musical fusions one can take in! They are instruments of the Afro and Indo communities in my country. When played together the music produced is almost as beautiful as the human offspring of any such marriage in these two communities!
BRAVO! Now who owns the patent?!
30" x 48" canvas | oils and pure Silver: Sweet Steel Pan instrument, born in Trinidad and Tobago, it is the only acoustic musical instrument created in the 20th Century.
There is no other sound like that of a full Steel Orchestra. I'm obsessed with it!!! Here, I show the remanence of one on stage at the end of a performance.

Greetings all!
We’re back with the third installment of Paintings In The Garden, an art show with a difference! This year’s series will focus on rhythm and harmony in color, mixed-media and Caribbean culture. You will feast your eyes on works in several genres. From abstracts that take you to places and spaces you’ve never been; to story-telling pieces that transport you to very specific times and circumstances; to the great reveal of a stunning portrait of the very well known and respected Calypsonian, Mr. David Rudder. The content promises to leave you with something profound—the stories.
In addition, I will be for the first time, sharing the stage with another. Trinidadian artist, Andrew Fitt will grace our walls with two of his pieces in digital media. While you enjoy the works of art, you will sip on your choice of Prosecco, red or white wine, saki, beer, or sparkling water(s). An array of Afro- and Indo-Caribbean cuisine, alongside delectable desserts, await your palate. A special jazz vocal performance will kick-off the evening’s brief artist ‘talk’. Then, a virtual performance piece by Trinidad’s Gyazetteofficial will take us to the portrait reveal.
Lastly, this year charity will begin at home in Trinidad and Tobago. Our mission is to help outfit the computer lab of Mr. Rudder’s Alma Mata, St Francis Boys' College (formerly Belmont Boys' Secondary RC School), in Belmont, POS, Trinidad with much needed laptops. Supporting this cause with their personal inputs are T&T’s 1964 Tokyo Olympic Medalists, Mr Edwin Roberts and Mr. Kent Bernard, also an alum of the school.
So mark the date on your calendars, get your outfit and your best mood and come spend the evening with us and help bring some love to the students of T&T. Even if you leave without an acquisition, you’ll do so with an experience you’ll never forget!
See you soon!

Me with "Sons Of The Soil"
Meeting the gentlemen and chatting with them, getting to know them, even 56+ years after the fact, really helped me bring life to this age-old photo. It is an absolute honor to be the artist chosen for this project!
